The National Gallery of the Cayman Islands is an official partner of the BIG Draw KY, hosting over 7+ events during the month, including a flagship event on October 26 with a full day of activities.
Screenings, exhibits, workshops, panel discussions - BIG Draw KY is a busy month at the National Gallery with all BIG Draw activities being offered FREE! The Art of Drawing Exhibition kicks off the BIG Draw KY 1 October – 12 October National Gallery Dart Auditorium The National Gallery is delighted to be exhibiting a selection of drawings by some talented local art students. The Art of Drawing showcases the work of Cayman’s young artists and includes drawing from students at: CIFEC, St Ignatius High School, Layman E. Scott High School, and Cayman Prep and High School. “The pieces we have on display highlight the skill and creativity found amongst our High School students,” NGCI Education Manager Ginny Copley explains. “We hope visitors will enjoy seeing the work on display and feel inspired to do some drawing themselves. We have lots of drawing-related events at the Gallery during October, including a ‘Big Draw Family Fun day’ on Saturday the 26th where we will be offering free drawing workshops and a children’s drawing competition.” The exhibition includes a range of styles and themes from animals, portraits, still life, and much more. The exhibition can be seen during the first two weeks of October (1 October – 12 October) during Gallery hours, Monday to Friday 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM and Saturday 10:00 PM until 3:00 PM. October is Big Draw month - a time for everybody to get involved in, and inspired by, drawing. Admission to the community exhibition is free. Donations are welcome. Camana Bay is a partner of BIG Draw KY for a second year in a row, hosting "BIG Draw Day Camana Bay" on October 19, which is the first BIG flagship event for this year.
"BIG Draw Day Camana Bay" takes place from 3pm on Saturday, 19 October at the Crescent in Camana Bay. It will be a fun-filled, creative afternoon “drawing” thousands of visitors and locals together. With both public performances and many participatory drawing activities, Camana Bay will be transformed into a huge experimental drawing studio. Lady Rabia will host the event with volunteers and local vendors on hand to lead the drawing efforts, engaging the public to join in this enormous, collaborative, family art festival. Activities will be photographed and showcased online at the Big Draw KY site. Last year’s event was attended by some 2,000 people. |
